We now have official confirmation from a Disney spokesman that Donald Trump will have a speaking role in the Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom… or do we? It’s fair to mention that every sitting President of the United States has had a featured speaking role in the Liberty Square attraction since Bill Clinton.
Now here is where things get interesting. Typically when a new President comes in, the show goes under a refurbishment just after the Christmas holiday season and reopens near the 4th of July around 6 months later. In this case, the previously mentioned re-opening date of June 28th is admittedly not going to happen… nor will it reopen on Independence Day. As a matter of fact, if you look at the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar, it doesn’t show when the Hall of Presidents is reopening.
Now here is where things get really interesting. Recently Jacquee Wahler, vice president of communications for Walt Disney World released the following statement when asked about if current President Trump would have a speaking role she was quoted as saying “the same thing that we’ve done with other presidents, is the same plan we have for President Trump.” Did you happen to notice the word “plan” in there? This attraction was supposed to re-open 3 days from when this statement from a WDW official was made. And he hasn’t recorded the speech yet. Why?
I don’t have your answers, but based on that particular quote, it doesn’t sound like Donald Trump has actually recorded…. anything. Now it could be that he’s been too busy. It could be that he didn’t like the speech written for his robotic likeness…. but the question remains: if every other sitting President has recorded their speech within the first six months: why hasn’t he?
Final note: if you’re looking to make jabs saying that the figure needs more orange for his hair or other silly lines? Please don’t bother. This story is only about the fact that Disney clearly has asked him to speak, he hasn’t recorded it and there is no opening date in current sight. Friends, that is interesting. And that is all it is… until we found out why.
