We live in a digital age of social media expectations. MSC Cruises is planning on meeting a great deal of those with a rollout of its newest innovation.
The cruise line announced the advent of MSC for Me, a digital solution to a swath of onboard dilemmas and opportunities for its travelers. Expected this year aboard the MSC Meraviglia (June) and the MSC Seaside (November). Essentially, it’s the wonderful travel tool you might conjure when considering an MSC Cruises trip of your own.
The digital technology offers a wide-ranging list of amenities, included a dedicated app that opens a world of sailing solutions. For example, you can bid a fond farewell to those dreaded moments of confusion as you meander about an enormous ship.
MSC for Me will offer a navigation solution as well as a digital concierge. The latter will enable you to book things like fancy meals while the former will help you get to the restaurant. There are also ways to view possible excursions through virtual reality as well as an option to organize the entire trip.
The really cool innovation comes in the form of TailorMade, which is a way to make each visitor seem special.
The press release explains the possibilities: “Intelligent face recognition will help staff take care of guests in a highly personalized way. Interactive bracelets will connect guests to the ship’s services and will activate geo-located suggestions through 3,050 Bluetooth beacons.”
It’s billed as a way to tour the ship and get your questions answered in the most efficient and personalized manner possible.
The enormous confines of these lavish ships suddenly become manageable, comfortable and, dare we say, homey.
Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises, explains, via press release, that pushing forward with technology will be of significant importance to the cruise line: “From day one, innovation has been at the very core of what MSC Cruises stands for. Each time we bring to the market a new class of ship we develop a brand new prototype, so that we can best address the evolving needs of guests. This distinct approach has led to over 800 percent growth over the first ten years since we entered the cruising business.”
As previously stated, MSC for Me will have its grand unveiling on the fleet’s newest ships later this year.
As Vago continues, MSC Cruises is investing heavily in these types of innovations: “Technology at the service of the guest experience is advancing at a rapid pace and that is why we’ve already invested about $21 million in the first two ships alone, to develop technology and infrastructure that is capable of meeting the needs of guests for years to come.”
The modern cruise enthusiast has a great deal to choose from when considering their next excursion. What’s clear is that digital assets like MSC for Me will continue to push the boundaries of travel expectations.
