Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has some excellent choices when it comes to dining selections. One of the favorite Character Dining Experiences there is 1900 Park Fare where you can meet some of the characters from Mary Poppins & Alice in Wonderland, depending on the day and meal. One of 1900 Park Fare’s delicious recipes is their Southern Spoon Bread. Enjoy this at your next family gathering!
2 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups yellow corn meal
1 1/2 cups milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine water, butter, sugar, and salt in a 1 1/2 quart saucepan.
Bring to a boil, add corn meal slowly, and stir until thick.
Remove from heat.
Place mixture in a large bowl. Blend in milk, then eggs, then baking powder.
Pour batter into a 9x13x2-inch greased cake pan.
Bake for 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
