According to The Orlando Sentinel this morning, Universal Orlando has shared some details about the hotels that will be built on the former Wet ‘n Wild water park land.
Pricing on the two hotels will be “value-driven,” according to a Monday news release that says their rates will be below that of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and well as its under-construction Aventura Hotel. More specifically, rates will start at “less than $100 per night.”
One hotel will have 2,050 rooms, and the other will have 750 rooms. Add that to Aventura’s 600 rooms, scheduled to open in August, and Universal’s on-property total will be 9,000 units. The two newest hotels are set to open in summer of 2019.
Visitors of the future hotels, built on 64 acres at the intersection of International Drive and Universal Boulevard, will have early access to Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios and Volcano Bay water park as well as “complimentary transportation across the resort.”
The new area will feature three pools, two food courts, coffee bars, poolside bars, fitness rooms and car rental facilities.
Not revealed Monday were the new resorts’ names or much in the way of theming.
“Guests will enjoy the sun, surf and sand with a laid-back coastal feel. Towering exterior murals with vibrant and natural colors will set a free-spirited and beachy tone, inviting guests to hang loose throughout their stay,” the news release says.
Conceptual renderings released show orange and blue details in the tropical-styled murals and along the facades around the windows. The two hotels appear to frame a large swimming pool with sand and chairs. Three sailboats are seen in an adjacent lake.
